Data Centers

Micah Triplett here on the data center issue. Let’s set the record straight:

Q: Are you Pro-Data Center?

A: No. I am strongly pro-Lyon County. Our farms, our rural way of life, our water rights, and responsible growth that benefits our residents - these matter most, and that is why I have been so vocal about incoming projects.

Q: Are you Anti-Data Center?

A: I have publicly questioned recent presentations because they showed no clear, observable benefits for our community. I’m on record. If given a list of 10 options, data centers would be 11. We still have to scrutinize every presentation for legal compliance and risk vs. benefit analysis. No two projects are the same.

Q: Will you vote against any new data center?

A: Not automatically. But I will not rubber-stamp anything either. Unfortunately, it is not as simple as just saying “No” to data centers, because every commissioner must follow Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) and Dillon’s Rule, or we risk costly lawsuits that hurt our infrastructure and taxpayers.

Q: What will you do about new data center proposals?

I promise to give every proposal intense scrutiny through the full review process to ensure safety, nuisances, and water rights under NRS are properly managed - as I have done as a concerned citizen focused on the details.

As a commissioner I will always protect the health, safety, and welfare of Lyon County residents while respecting private property rights.

I will carefully review every proposal for real net benefits to our community, full impact fees where allowed, and enforceable conditions. No rubber-stamping.
